The Bad Kreuznach district is literally filled with medieval castles, either perched on rocky outcrops along the river, or by the waters edge. It also has extensive forests continuing to the Taunus mountains and perfect natural riverscapes.

There are three main spa towns, with Bad Kreuznach being the district capital as well. Known internationally for its Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau grape varieties, it is also famous for its quite rare radon spa treatments! Architecturally the town is a gem, and even has medieval houses built onto its bridges across the Nahe itself.

Outdoor activities can’t be ignored in the Bad Kreuznach District, with canoeing on the peaceful river Glan a popular option, or cycling along the 500km (311mi) of trails. Or if you settle for a round of golf or some easy walking, try either the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park.

In other words, you’ll be spoilt for choice here. :-)
