Borken District — Relax, Unwind, And Enjoy The Scenery

The delightful rural landscape of the Borken District is interrupted only by areas of forest and charming towns and villages. Bordering the Netherlands to the west, this relatively flat region is very popular with travelers as it offers a relaxed and serene atmosphere.

Over a third of the district is protected land with around 70 nature parks to its name. And there are many ways to enjoy it them.

You can cycle your way along the well sign-posted Pättkes (the local name for the cycle routes around Münsterland). Hire yourself a covered wagon and horses to amble along the peaceful roads with, or treat yourself to a mist-shrouded hot air balloon ride at dawn across the sprawling network of farmland and homesteads.

Visit a performance of the popular Jazzfest in Gronau one evening, or wander around the Hamaland-Museum in Vreden to see one of the biggest historical culture exhibitions in this state.

There will be barely any interruptions to your day whatever you choose as there are no major cities in the Borken District, no industrious rivers nor any busy motorways.

Just relax. :-)
