Encircling the city of Kaiserslautern in southern Rhineland-Palatiante state is the refreshing Kaiserslautern District. To the east is the great Pfälzer Wald and to the west are the North Palatine Hills with sweeping lowlands in the middle. It also borders the tiny state of Saarland to the south-west.

With a great traffic infrastructure, you can travel around with ease as you visit the many towns and villages in the hills and forests, as well as admiring the many monuments dotted around the region. You must make a visit to Bruchmühlbach-Miesau which has two storks as the town mascots!
There are two U.S army bases in the Kaiserslautern District so it is able to offer many creature comforts in this historic and cultural setting, with many festivals to entertain everyone. A visit in the fall will offer the changing colors of the leaves from green, through reds and finally to rich ambers and golds before the snows arrive!
