Towns & Villages in the Kassel District

In Zierenberg it can be hard to know where to start as the list of potential destinations runs on and on — especially the countless castles!

Another area well worth a visit is Bad Karlshafen where you should take a look at the old packing house located on the dock. Built in 1715, this is an incredibly impressive building that has since been converted into the local town hall.

And the museum at Wolfhagen includes a display of original dinosaur footprints found in the district.

Lastly it would be a mistake not to see Saba Castle at Hofgeismar. The castle alone holds plenty of interest but there are also 90 hectares of parkland to explore including many oaks that are over 500 years old. Also on the same site you will find Europe’s oldest animal park which displays the endangered or extinct animals of the area including bison, wolf, lynx and wild boar.
