Towns & Villages in the Main-Tauber-Kreis

As you might guess from its name, Bad Mergentheim is well known for its public baths and spas which all rely on a local mineral spring discovered by a local shepherd in the 1800s. Also located in the town is a Teutonic castle which was the original home base of the Teutonic Knights.

And if that weren’t enough, Bad Mergentheim is also home to an enormous nature park which claims to be the most species-rich in all of Europe and where, if you are lucky, one can spot a lynx.

Wertheim is the most northerly town in Baden-Württemberg. It is the location of the stunning Wertheim castle which overlooks the town with its medieval center, cobbled streets and parades of shops. The castle stands in an overpowering position with its red brick exterior contrasting with the green forest that surrounds it, as it looks out across the river.
