Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) is one of Germany’s oldest airports, having opened its door back in 1926. It is also one of the most modern, having completely renovated in an unsuccessful bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.
It is Germany’s twelfth largest in terms of passengers, third largest in terms of cargo (Lufthansa Cargo and DHL use it widely), and has one terminal.

Getting To And From Leipzig/Halle International Airport
Leipzig airport is well-served and easily accessed by public transportation.
Leipzig/Halle Airport has a direct connection to long-distance trains. The Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) connects the airport to several major cities, like Hannover. Luggage courier service is also available.
Long-distance train tickets can be purchased on board. Forms of payment: credit cards, EC debit cards, cash.
The city of Leipzig offers a super-fast and efficient way to get to the airport. Just head to the main station and hop aboard the Flughafen Express. It leaves every thirty minutes and the journey takes just fourteen minutes.
There are two buses that run regularly to the airport. Route numbers 202 and 206 will connect the Schkeuditz and Radefeld districts to LEJ.
There is plenty of shopping and entertainment at Leipzig/Halle Airport. A 24-hour casino is on hand to keep you amused as you wait for your flight. One of the most striking features of Leipzig/Halle Airport is the proliferation of tour operators in the structure itself. Apparently, it is permissible to offer larger discounts within the airport than outside of it.
One place where you won’t get a discount, but that is still worth a visit, is the neighboring Porsche factory. It is available to visit or for special conventions.
