Getting To And From Hamburg International Airport
Hamburg airport is well-served and easily accessed by public transportation.
There is no direct connection to long-distance trains. But the regional S1 train (below) will get you to Hamburg’s main station in just under a half hour.
The S-Bahn train is a convenient way to get to and from the airport. The S1 train will take you from the main train station (in central Hamburg) to the airport in about twenty five minutes. The trains leave every ten minutes.
Remember to buy and validate your ticket BEFORE you get on board.
There are many options for bus travel to and from the airport. Regular local buses and airport express routes are available. There are even night buses available for those with super early take-offs.
The Lufthansa WorldShop or Destination Hamburg are great places to pick up some last-minute souvenirs. Several boutiques sell the latest fashions. A supermarket will allow you to pack some on-board snacks. There’s even an internet cafe that will help pass the time before boarding.
Food & Drink
There’s a few different places to choose from for your pre-flight meal. Apart from the usual bistro and cafe fare, why not try the Sashimi sushi bar, or try a buffet of specialty sandwiches and pasta. Restaurant Oliva offers a tasty cheese-and-olive bar.
You can take a tour of the airport’s fire brigade. Check out the massive trucks that can reach any corner of the airport in under three minutes. This tour is available as a part of the Airport Model Exhibition.
