Ismaning is something of a surprise package for the first time visitor.
You might think you’ve wound up in a small town with the bare necessities. And then as you ask around, yes, they have a castle, yes, they do have museums, yes, they do have multi-cuisine restaurants, bowling? Yes! Indoor swimming? Yes! And more than you could even think of asking!
Ismaning’s pride and joy would be the Castle Museum with its English style garden and extensive grounds. It is now a cultural center housing a museum and open to the public, that means you. ;-)
Other museums, though a tad less impressive, would be the Kallman museum which has its own stuff to strut in the form of artwork of the famous painter after whom it is named. Alongside his, you’ll find works of other luminaries in the field as well.
The town’s artistic bend may be further enjoyed at the Seidl-Mühle where you get to enjoy a musical version.
Ismaning’s generous list of leisure pursuits would be topped by fishing in the picturesque lake that is one of the best things about this city. Then there’s swimming in the indoor pool, children’s play grounds, and well-maintained parks and gardens. Take to a hiking trail or whizz along a bike path that takes you on trip of your own.
Be sure to check out the local cuisine which vies well with the rest of the continent in the form of Greek and Italian food, not to mention the international goodies in the form of Indian, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
