Vaterstetten is where you should be if you’re looking to enjoy local German culture at its warmest and most vibrant. It’s all very well to say you’ve been there and done that, but what exactly did you do? Seen castles, took a hike, ate sausage… surely there’s more to a tour than that.
Vaterstetten shows you a facet of German life you won’t normally get to see.
Whatever it is you associate German culture with, you won’t be prepared for the love of life that greets you in the wide open town square where there’s always something going on.
Would you’ve believed that they actually have an Africa Festival every other year? Well, Vaterstetten has more where that came from. In fact, it looks like they’re just waiting for an excuse to throw a party. :-)
From Gourmet Wine days to Volksfest, the June Street Festival, the Sonnwendfeuer or Solstice Festival and more of the same, there’s never a dull moment in Vaterstetten. You would be well advised to check on the current offering before you book tickets to make sure you get here on time to celebrate.
And then there are the endless markets of Vaterstetten. From the normal flea markets, which, by the way, is a treasure trove for souvenirs, to the Töpfermarkt in the Freizeitpark in October, you have a wide range of these exotic offerings to choose from.
There’s the famous Christmas Market, of course in December, then the Pottery Market and the Wollmarkt. That’s not all — they even have weekly markets selling all sorts of things from jewelry to furniture.
Vaterstetten can be quite the charmer with all those markets and festivals, but if you’d prefer to avoid crowds and take off on your own, there’s provision for that as well. From hiking to riding, the town is meant for such pursuits that bring you close to nature. Endless trails disappearing into green woods and around lakes give you ample opportunity to simply get lost, if that’s what you want.
