Bexbach is left out of most travel guides and the reason is because, although it is an interesting city, there are more interesting places in Germany and more beautiful cities in Germany.
What is interesting is the Flower Gardens in the city. These gardens date back to an exhibit from 1951 and include Chinese gardens. These are always good for an afternoon stroll.
There is also a very large park inside the city that is nicknamed the “green lung” because it cleans the city’s air and gives a place for the residents to relax. The town is named after the small stream that flows through this park, so seeing it is interesting if you are looking for the real roots of the city.
The water tower is now a tourist attraction in Bexbach. Built in the 1920s to help supply the city with water, it now serves as a museum and a tower that you can climb up and get a good look of the town. The museum is a mining museum spread out on the seven floors of the tower, giving visitors a good snapshot of what the area is like.
Those who like hiking and wandering will love that Bexbach has countless trails around the town. When you find a trail with a green and yellow cross, it means that you are probably on the trail that starts near Bexbach and goes all the way to Ludwigshafen. Of course you don’t have to try to do the entire trail, but remember that it doesn’t circle back towards the city!
Those who are more into walking through the city and people watching will like that there is a special path through the city. If you stick with the entire 37 kilometer path, you will go through every part of the city and see all of the major attractions.
