Darmstadt-Dieburg District Knows How To Enjoy Itself

Darmstadt-Dieburg District is located in the south of Hesse. Like most of the surrounding areas, it benefits from a number of medieval towns complete with castle ruins and half timbered buildings.

One worth noting is the Witches Tower in Babenhausen which would likely have housed those suspected of witchcraft. However, the thing that really stands out about this district is the pure Spaß am Leben — the joy of life around here.

In short, people know how to and want to enjoy themselves!

Dieburg was once famous for its public bathing areas (Badhaus) which can still be visited today. These days, though, it is probably better known for the Traffic Jam rock festival that arrives each summer.

Groß-Umstadt, just down the road, also offers a wine festival each September which draws huge crowds.

Pfungstadt goes one better by accompanying its festival with fireworks serving its internationally known beer — the Pfungstädter.

Weiterstadt, on the other hand, offers an open air film festival each year. The woods and other wild areas around the town are also deserving of a mention as they are both picturesque and benefit from camping areas and communal barbecue areas!
