Frankenberg (Saxony) Has This Touch Of The Narcissistic

Frankenberg (Saxony) is quite happy to welcome visitors knowing quite well they have what it takes to keep you coming back for more.

Wonders never cease as you stroll along the historic city center and take in the medieval architecture embodied in the Town Hall, the Zschopautal, and the Church of St.Giles.

The Sachsenburg Castle may bring on mixed feelings as you may feel overwhelmed by dark chapters in history.

The Augustusburg Castle in Frankenberg with its achingly beautiful Renaissance facade is now a Motorcycle Museum.

Make what you want of that, but the place is definitely worth visiting even if your interest in motorcycles is limited. But of course, if you’re a bikie, well, you’re probably already checking it out before I could say Harley Davidson! ;-)

There’s also the Manor Museum and the Air Museum for those die-hard museum lovers.

Frankenberg is renowned for its mind-blowing scenery. It would be a great idea to visit such mystic woods as the Lützeltal, the Striegistal, and the Buchenwald — some of the most scenic locales you may have had the pleasure of visiting.

If that isn’t enough go ahead and check out the reed pond and hover awhile in the overhead cable car. Take yourself off to the vicinity of Lake Eder for some gentle you-time and take your pick from fishing, swimming, or just staring into space. Take to the hiking trails in the Kellerwals-Edersee National Park; you’ll be rejuvenated in no time from all that fresh air and greenery.

Frankenberg attractions also include fun-filled local entertainments such as the toboggan run in summer and the Day of Traditional Crafts. Cultural extravaganzas are the order of the day rather than the exception and you can expect anything from concerts to cabaret shows and dance performances.
