Freigericht is a town where legends are part of daily lore.
Add to that the mystic Spessart forests with its various well-marked bike and hiking trails, the serendipitous lakes and streams that you’re suddenly faced with, the proximity to the Fairy Tale Route, and you have yourself all the ingredients of a magical tour.
If you were to take to one of those trails you’ll find they come well furnished with picnic spots, fishing holes, barbecue shacks, and even little wayside inns that complete the experience.

Freigericht has exciting leisure opportunities. If that’s what you’re looking for you get to choose from Llama Trekking, Horse Birkelbach, Bowling Alley, community Barbecues, and an 18-hole golf course. There are also tennis courts, fishing ponds, and a shooting gallery.
Check out the family bath with sauna facilities if all you want to do is relax.
The historical façade of Freigericht is not confined to its medieval buildings such as the Marian Grotto in Somborn, the Fatima Grotto in Bernbach, the St. John Evangelical, St. Anna, St. Mark and the St. Michael Churches.
The land has its roots in pre-history which was revealed with the unearthing of mammoth remains. Unfortunately they had to give up their finds or else you would’ve had something more to see at the local museum. But there are remnants of its historicity in the various gravesites, old trade routes and streets such as Birkenhainer and Caminho dos Burros.
Freigericht’s social calendar is an eventful one. Summertime Music Festival Hof Trags is one celebrated with gusto. And its weekly markets are huge crowd magnets.
