Füssen — Remarkable Town At The Highest Bavarian Elevation

Located on the edge of the Alps, Füssen is a romantic’s playground. From the stunning views of the mountain range to the serene peacefulness of being away from city life, you will be in absolute awe. This is the perfect destination for a honeymoon or anniversary.

Found at the end of the infamous Romantic Road, this locale is nothing shy of stunning.

If you cannot just sit back and relax, do not worry, there is still plenty to do. Guided tours are available, call for times and locations. If you chose to do your tour independently it is fairly easy to figure out where to go.

The grand view of the castles are unmistakable. The castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are just as beautiful and audacious as the mountain peaks behind them.

The historical old town is situated on the Lech River. While strolling through the marketplace and taking in the culture and sights, you will see the High Palace appear as if out of nowhere. This late-Gothic castle is still in pristine condition and is open to visitors. Being one of the largest castles in Swabia, touring this palace is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Just below the castle is the baroque complex of the former St. Mang’s Benedictine Monastery. With history dating as far back as the 8th century, the museum located within the complex is well worth the visit.

The town in general is like something you would find straight out of a story book. The older city below, surrounded by beauty and riches. If you have ever dreamed of being Cinderella or Prince Charming, the ambiance here is included.

After working up and appetite I recommend to choose a candlelight dinner, or a light meal from an open air cafe. Either one is just as fulfilling.

You will wish you could stay in this holiday forever. :-)
