Goslar District — Right Within The Harz National Park

In the very south of Lower Saxony, you can find the Goslar District — in a busy corner of the Harz Mountain Range. With the highest mountain in the state, Wurmburg at 971m, and the source of the beautiful Oker river to its name, there is plenty to explore in this natural wonderland.

Towns & Villages in the Goslar District

The capital city of Goslar has a beautiful historic town with winding, crooked streets and buildings. Along with the 1000 year old Mines of Rammelsburg, it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a very popular summer destination and a tour of its splendid Kaiserfalz is a must.

With a whole host of other important sites through the Harz range, including Bad Harzburg, Braunlage and Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the Goslar District has plenty to offer the outdoor enthusiast. These include many ski resorts, several spa towns over 60 lakes and great hiking.

There are also endless mines to explore due to the regions rich history of mining — particularly silver mining.
