Upon your arrival in Neu-Isenburg, go straight to the town’s sophisticated Huguenot Hall. Check out the current calendar of events, which includes theatrical performances, rock concerts, cabaret, dance, exhibitions, lectures, and film screenings.
Next, make your way to the nearby House of Lions city museum. Yes, the king of the jungle is on display here, as is a permanent exhibition detailing the town’s Huguenot origins. Stay a while to catch an historical play or satire, right under the museum roof.
Then, head over to the imaginative Zeppelin Museum. Here you will discover everything you would ever want to know about airships and navigating the sky. Informative books and unique souvenirs are available in the gift shop.
Now it is time for you to do some shopping at the Isenburg-Zentrum (IZ). Conveniently located near Frankfurt Airport and just off the Autobahn, this retail center has made a name for itself as the region’s top stop for clothing, shoes, kitchenware, toys, home furnishings, and much, much more.
If you still have the energy, you may wish to try some local recreational activities. Take your pick of swimming pools, golf courses, sports fields, gymnasiums, skating facilities, tennis courts, riding halls, and beach volleyball facilities. Or visit the extensive Neu-Isenburg Sports Park on the east side of the town, with its stadium and a large sports hall for organized events.
Two special occasions you will certainly want to catch here are the three-day Open Doors Festival in summer and the Shrove Monday Parade in winter. These events draw crowds of up to 15,000 to Neu-Isenburg, with the former featuring dozens of bands and artists on stages set up throughout the town. Admission is free.
