The Nürnberger Land District lies east of Nuremberg, where you can still see the former mansions and country manors of the city’s patrician families. Hiking and cycling paths through the Franconian foothills will allow you to enjoy the landscapes of this region at your leisure.

Centrally located Lauf an der Pegnitz is the district seat, with its lovely old town hall and marketplace. Come here to tour ancient courtyards, medieval church ruins, and the local Industrial Museum, which celebrates the economic miracle of the last century.
For a restful treat, go for a soak at the Frankenalb Spa in Hersbruck further east. The bathing pools and saunas are only part of the relaxation, as evening entertainment is provided, such as candlelight dinners and reggae music nights.
Altdorf, to the south, is your stop for impressive ruins and the monumental Church of St. Laurentius. Not far from there, Röthenbach an der Pegnitz offers you the majestic 17th-century Heaven’s Garden manor and the very popular Flower Festival held annually.
