Augsburg Shopping — Quaint Shopping Streets And Mega Malls

Augsburg has several different shopping areas that each have something to offer the avid fan of retail therapy. ;-)

Augsburg Shopping Tip

Most Augsburg shops are closed on Sundays. In addition, many stores still do not accept credit cards (unbelievable, I know), so be sure to stash some euros alongside that beloved plastic.

The Must-Buy

Augsburg is well-known for its quality cloth and jewelry. You can also find many unique religious icons here.

Annastraße and Bürgermeister-Fischer-Straße

The Augsburg shopping district of Annastraße and Bürgermeister-Fischer-Straße offers that quintessentially German experience of a strictly pedestrianized area filled with shops and other attractions.

These Augsburg shopping streets offer just that, a variety of big box department stores where you can find every and any thing you have been searching for. But there are also plenty of smaller, quainter shops (mostly along Annastraße) that will provide you with a more personal and unique shopping experience.

Whatever your style of shopping may be, this heart of city shopping will do its best to satisfy you.

Maximilianstraße

This Augsburg shopping street may be better suited for window shopping than actual purchasing because of its exquisitely beautiful quality. Maximilianstraße features cute boutiques and wine shops that are surrounded by architectural wonders of the Baroque and Renaissance styles.

Generally regarded as one of the prettiest places in the whole city of Augsburg, you are certain to enjoy your time on the streets here.

Pfladergasse

If you are in search of some artsy souvenirs, then go no further than the Pfladergasse. This cute, narrow shopping street features various artisans and craftsmen.

One of the best-known places to go on this street is the Die Alte Silberschmiede. This Augsburg shop is a jewelry store housed within an historic 13th century structure with a lovely courtyard.

Citygalerie

If you just don’t have time to navigate the tiny shopping streets of Augsburg, then head to the mega-mall, Citygalerie. This modern shopping mecca, located to the southeast of Old Town, is a glass-roofed extravaganza of retail opportunities. With over 100 shops and a food court, it is also a perfect rainy-day destination.
