Kraichtal — Castle, Orchards, Vineyards, Festivals, Museums

Kraichtal has its ups and downs ins and outs, but it is all splendid and scenic designed to sway the nature lover.

Located ideally between the mystic Black Forest and the graceful River Neckar, it is awesome scenery any which way you look. The River Kraich flows gently by inspiring you to spend a lot of time by its lovely banks.

Well, at this point I have to warn you; nature has this effect on me and I tend to get a bit loony, particularly in the Kraichgau region. If you’re the same, you’re going to love this place. Make sure you’re armed with your favorite walking shoes.

Kraichtal is not just about winsome looks, there’s more that will keep you busy.

The Graf Eberstein Castle, Unteröwisheim Castle, and the St. Martin’s Chapel are splendid specimens of medieval architecture and both are well worth visiting. The fort of Menzingen with its historic moat is now in ruins but still quite a crowd puller. There’s also the Schwaneburg Mentzingen nearby which can still tell tales of the lords of Mentzingen.

There’s plenty more medieval architecture here if you still want more. Indeed, if you’re an aficionado you’re in the right place. :-)

Kraichtal has a busy social life and there’s never a dull season. Art exhibitions, concerts, and cabarets are the order of the day in spring. There’s the museum festival and the historic village market fest.

It doesn’t end there if you’re craving more. Check out the street parties, the night parades, the castle festivals, and the carnivals; you won’t be disappointed.

Oh, well… you get the picture, don’t you?!
