Lahr (Schwarzwald) is worth visiting for a number of reasons. But if you’re a flower lover you’d probably want to stay forever.
Lahr loves its flowers — tulips, chrysanthemums, roses, and more are on show at the annual Chrysanthema flower show around October-November when a piece of paradise descends to earth, or on Lahr in the Black Forest to be more precise.
The town welcomes visitors with its landmark structure, the Stork Tower or Storchenturm. This is part of a historic castle which now fills visitors with awe along with parts of the old town wall.
A collection of medieval churches add to the charm of this historic town. The Stiftskirche of the 19th century and the older St. Peter’s along with the St. Peter and Paul Church are well worth visiting. It would be fun to compare the old and new town hall to decide which way civilization is going.
Lahr’s proximity to the Black Forest ensures fantastic views any which way you look. It has just the right climate and ambiance for a multitude of outdoor activity that will leave you spoilt for choice. Whether it’s biking along the well laid out trails or hiking in the wilderness you’re always amid fresh air and a scenic splendor that sets your spirit free to luxuriate.
Lahr teases your appetite with a range of traditional cuisine and exceptional wine that will soon have you looking forward to your next dining experience. Museums and art exhibitions are a way of life, as are cabaret and concert performances. So if you’re an aficionado, there’s plenty to keep your evenings full.
By the way, the Tierpark im Stadtpark or the local Zoological gardens is certainly a must-see for a family outing. Besides a wide variety of animals they have a lovely garden that will simply take your breath away.
