The location of Offenburg would have to be as scenic as you can get. Smack bang in the middle of one of the most attractive landscapes of the Baden countryside, you would have to be really short of time, or out of your mind to not visit this city. Right next to the Black Forest and the Upper Rhine Valley, there’s no dearth of things to see and do while you’re here. :-)
Well, of course, you know you’re in wine country. So see the world through wine colored glasses as you traverse the Offenburg country side laden with fruit-bearing vineyards. The best of culinary efforts supplement their top drop.
The local cuisine is not to be missed out on. A variety of these can be had at the delightful cafés, and restaurants that line the pedestrian streets.
In a land overflowing with natural beauty, parks might be considered redundant. But while you stroll along the Zwingerpark or the Bürgerpark, you’ll be marveling at the exuberant arrangements of flowering plants and greenery.
The intricacies and enduring elegance of medieval architecture are there for all to see everywhere in Offenburg. The imposing facades of the Königshof, the hotel Sonne, the Kapuzinerkloster, and the Ritterhaus all hark back to a period in time when buildings were more than mere abodes; they were works of art.
If you leave Offenburg without exploring the Capuchins’ Monastery, you’re missing out big time. This here’s a treasure chest of historical gems that enriches the heart and soul of all who pass its portals.
An artistic sensibility is just as tangible as history in this vibrant town. From the exquisite bronze sculpture of Roman god of wine, Bacchus, to the modern Freedom-male/female figure in the Friends of the Constitution Square, it exhibits various artistic efforts with much pride.
You see, a web page really doesn’t quite cover it. It really would be a great idea to go see for yourself! ;-)
Or you might wanna pick another town or village from the Ortenaukreis this town belongs to. They’re really top notch and very sweet.
