Hochtaunuskreis is one of the wealthiest areas in Germany thanks to its scenic towns and proximity to Franfurt. Located in the mountain region of Taunus (hence the name) here you will find many of the trappings of wealth.
Towns & Villages in the Hochtaunuskreis
Bad Homburg, for example, has its own golf club and even a tennis club. Home to the Homburg Hat, this historic spa town still attracts considerable visitor numbers each year.
Another such town is Königstein im Taunus which also benefits from some marvelous hiking trails and a ruined castle which each year is used as the backdrop for a series of concerts and plays.
Kronberg im Taunus is unique in being known for its cello festival while Hessenpark, just near to the town of Neu-Anspach, offers a full day out for all the family. This outdoor museum recalls life as it once was with restored buildings including a windmill, watermill and an old school, all of which can be explored.
