Leipzig has a wild and thriving nightlife scene that will make your stay here even more memorable.
The Drallewatsch is your best bet if you’re in the mood for bar-hopping, while the Luise is great for those who plan to be out until the wee hours of dawn.
Leipzig Bars
Drallewatsch Pub District
If you’re looking for the nightlife epicenter of Leipzig, then make your way to the Drallewatsch. This Leipzig nightlife area includes the streets of Fleischergasse, Barfußgässchen and Klostergasse and all the way through to the Church of St. Thomas and the New Town Hall. There are over 30 bars in this spot!
You can take the district’s name to heart during your time here. It comes from the Saxon word that means “to have a good time!” :-)
Luise (Gottschedstraße 4)
This Leipzig bar has it all. There’s great music, a wide variety of drinks, stylish clientele and a fun atmosphere in Luise. Even better, if you spend all of Friday night partying here, you can take advantage of their Saturday morning breakfast buffet.
Bayerischer Bahnhof (Bayrischer Platz 1)
The site of Leipzig’s old train station was transformed into the Bayerischer Bahnhof pub and brewery in 1999. They now serve a large assortment of German beer, including the local brew Gose and an old cocktail from the 19th century made with Gose and cumin liqueur.
Leipzig Clubs
Tanzpalast (Ecke Bosestraße 1)
This Leipzig night club is ever-popular with the city’s university students. The Tanzpalast is an enormous venue with seven bars and three discos. There’s usually live bands playing twice a week, usually on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Distillery (Kurt-Eisner-Straße 108a)
Regarded by some enthusiasts as the best club in Leipzig, the Distillery is certainly one of the city’s oldest techno venues. These days the club is true to its house music roots but is also incorporating some newer styles, like reggae and hip hop.
Come and see if the Distillery’s reputation as the best is deserved or not! ;-)
