This Bochum event has become famous throughout Germany. The Ruhrtriennale festival is a celebration of both the arts and culture, as well as the Ruhr area’s industrial past. The old industrial buildings are transformed into centers of culture as they host theater performances, musical concerts and literary readings.
Maiabendgesellschaft Bochum
The Maiabendgesellschaft Bochum is a festival with a six hundred year history. The citizens cut down an oak tree in the thick forest to use as their Maypole. The tradition began in 1388 because of a feud between Count Engelbert III and the city of Dortmund.
Christmas Market
The Christmas market is a German tradition and Bochum is no exception. Here you find plenty of holiday spirit along with over two hundred stalls selling handmade gifts like wooden toys and Christmas tree ornaments.
