Bochum Shopping — Specializing In The Specialty Shop

Bochum’s thriving shopping centers are certain to placate even the most obsessive shopaholic. The city boasts over 500 shops that fill 100,000 square meters of retail space.

Quartier der Spezialisten

A good place to begin your Bochum shopping day is at the Quartier der Spezialisten, or the Specialist’s Quarter. This area is home to many specialty shops like florists, jewelry shops, music stores and perfumeries. There are also many of your favorite chain department stores to be found here selling the latest in fashion and lingerie, like C&A and SinnLeffers.

The largest Saturn shop in the Ruhr valley can also be found right in the heart of the Specialist’s Quarter. And there are plenty of ice cream shops and cafes here for when you need a break from all the shopping.

Drehscheibe / City-Point

This Bochum shopping center, the Drehscheibe, has over 70 shops located within. If you’re looking for your favorite chain store, like H&M or ESPRIT, you will find one here. There is also a large pedestrian area that can be found just outside of the shopping mall, which often hosts special city events.

It also leads you to our next big shopping street, The Boulevard…

The Boulevard

This Bochum shopping street leads right up to the main railway station. But before you leave town, you’ll be treated to a large assortment of fine shops. Some highlights include the Baltz clothing store and an even bigger collection of shops inside the Sparkassen Galeria.

Ruhr-Park

You can visit the Ruhr-Park by traveling just a little outside the city between the A40 and A43 highways. And it’s worth the trip.

This is the largest shopping center in all of Germany, with over 126,000 square meters of space. Over 16 million people come to Ruhr-Park every year!

Brückviertel

Another popular shopping stop is the Brückviertel. With even more specialty shops to be found here, you are certain to find all items on your shopping list. The area is also popular because of the many restaurants and cafes, as well as the nightlife center of Bochum — the “Bermuda Triangle.”
