Duisburg shopping offers many retail opportunities for shopaholics. From its pedestrian shopping streets to major shopping malls, all your material needs are sure to be met in this shoppers paradise.
Königstraße
Stretching from the train station to the Sonnenwall, you will find loads of shops and boutiques along this classy shopping street. In addition to the haute couture, you’ll also find more unusual and off-beat places too.
When you’re too hungry to shop, be sure to check out the markets of fresh fruit and veggies. And if you still have euros left over after you’ve shopped til you’ve dropped, then why not head to the new casino, Duisburg Casino, on Königstraße?
Münzstraße
If you need some new clothes, then head to this Duisburg shopping street. Münzstraße has many of Europe’s biggest chain clothing stores where you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for.
The area also specializes in outdoor shops, so if you plan to take a mountain hike or do some camping, you’ll want to be sure to make a stop here.
Sonnenwall
This Duisburg shopping district offers even more retail therapy. Music lovers are sure to indulge in some of the CD shops here. Punk rocker-types will find not only their favorite tunes in this spot, but also some boutiques selling their favorite style of clothing.
One of Sonnenwall’s highlights is the famous shop Roskothen, which opened its doors in 1829! Here you can purchase (or just browse through) its selection of fun and interesting toys.
FORUM Duisburg
This new addition to the Duisburg shopping scene was opened in 2008. The FORUM Duisburg (Königstraße 48) offers 57,000 square meters of shopping paradise. You really will find everything at this shopping center, from clothes boutiques to multimedia shops and sushi restaurants.
CityPalais
The CityPalais (König-Heinrich-Platz) is not meant to be the major shopping center, like the FORUM Duisburg. However, you will still find several small and interesting shops here in this beautiful building, as well as cafes and ethnic restaurants. It may be the perfect way to end a busy shopping day in Duisburg.
