Located north of Frankfurt, the Wetteraukreis district is sandwiched between the Taunus Mountains to the west and the volcanic Vogelsberg Mountains to the east. With huge Nature Parks on three sides this is certainly a region to discover the outdoors.

There are several spa towns in this area and the capital of Friedberg (Hesse) has evidence of Roman baths. However, the spa town of Bad Nauheim is world famous. Elvis Presley was stationed here during the war, and he used a picture of it as a record cover!
Many other famous people have visited here over the centuries — and still do.
Also in the Wetteraukreis region, there is evidence of the old Roman “Limes” — a defensive border across much of central Germany. The defensive border against the ancient Germanic Tribes is still evident in defensive towers and many ruins along its route — the areas of Karben and Altenstadt have some of the best sights.
