Prinzipalmarkt
This Münster shopping street is the go-to place if you’re in the mood for a day of retail therapy. The Prinzipalmarkt features the best shopping and atmosphere in all of the city. The medieval colonnades give the pedestrian shopping street a touch of class and history.
This area has been the chief shopping stop for Münster residents since the 12th century! Although, it wasn’t called the “Principal Market” until 500 years later. The market was obliterated during the bombing of World War 2, but has been painstakingly restored to preserve its historic design.
These days, you will find a vibrant shopping street with unique shops and the latest in fashion.
Münster Arkaden
With over 26,000 square meters of retail space, the Münster Arkaden offer shopaholics plenty of opportunities to indulge in their favorite pastime.
The Arkaden are located just a stone’s throw away from the Prinzipalmarkt, so you can easily go to both locales in a day of intense shopping.
This Münster shopping area has been around since 2006 when the Savings Bank building was transformed into a shoppers’ paradise. A glass dome covers this huge complex, which also houses part of the Pablo Picasso museum.
Flea markets
If the trendiest fashions are out of your budget, or you’ve spent all your euros at the Prinzipalmarkt, don’t despair. If you’re lucky, you might be able to catch one of Münster’s famous flea markets. The flea markets are generally held on the third Saturday of every month, from May through September.
